Amarnath Yatra 2027 dates aren’t announced yet. How 2026 worked: dates, registration, health certificate, age limits and routes, from official sources.
The dates for the Amarnath Yatra 2027 have not been announced yet; we last checked on 24 October 2026. The Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB) announces them each year. In 2026 the Yatra ran for 57 days, from 3 July to 28 August, ending on Raksha Bandhan, though pilgrim movement from both base camps was suspended from 9 August after rain, cloudbursts and landslides damaged the tracks, National Herald reported. Advance registration opened on 15 April 2026 at 554 bank branches and online, and every pilgrim needed a Compulsory Health Certificate, News On Air reported.

The route descriptions, “the traditional Pahalgam route” and “the shorter Baltal route”, are the Shrine Board’s, as reported by the National Herald (28 August 2026). The official source is the SASB website, jksasb.nic.in.
The two routes
- The Pahalgam route is the traditional one. Incredible India calls Pahalgam “the gateway to the sacred Amarnath cave”; see the Pahalgam guide.
- The Baltal route is the shorter one, near Sonamarg. Baltal lies about 15 km east of Sonamarg at the foot of the Zoji La, according to the Ganderbal district administration; see the Sonamarg guide.
The Go Kashmir app’s place card for the Amarnath cave shows its season and permit notes.

For travellers who are not on the Yatra: Chandanwari, on the Pahalgam side, is on the list of places closed to tourists under district orders valid to 31 December 2026, The Wire reported. The 2026 cut-off times for tourist vehicles on the Pahalgam and Sonamarg roads are in Kashmir in July.
